Origin: Parabens are manufactured by the esterification of para-hydroxybenzoic acid with the appropriate alcohol, such as methanol, ethanol, or n-propanol. Diazolidinyl urea is produced by reacting allantoin and formaldehyde in the presence of sodium hydroxide solution.
Overview: Paraben-DU is a universal broad-spectrum preservative derived from Para-hydroxybenzoic acid, allantoin, and formaldehyde. It prevents the growth of yeasts, molds, and bacteria. It can extend the shelf life of personal care products for up to 1 to 2 years. It is also resistant to surfactant-induced inactivation.
